I've been pre-approved for a loan through my credit union at 2.99% for 60mo. Just need to go there first thing tomorrow morning, check out the car, see if they will budge at all on price (I'm thinking my only bargaining power is that I will need to get new wheels/tires for winter) but I'm fine with their listed price, and then convince them to hold it until Wednesday when my credit union meets to finalize approvals.

Update: Anyone have any opinions or info on what a dealer might want to hold a car? My loan is pre-authorized, but like I said above the credit union doesn't meet until Wednesday so that's the earliest I could get it.

I know, right?! Showing up there when they open. It's honestly a really good deal. Car has 1 owner, repoed and then bought at an auction in FL and brought up here. If everything looks good, I'm all about it.

Having repo'd and sold vehicles at auction in my past professionally I must say please be very careful. If the PO had it repo'd chances are they may not have given it much love. Keep us updated.

Awesome find.

I would not expect them to budge off their price as these things used are like hens teeth and they know it. Even though I am still years away from being able to buy one I still skim the auto auctions (nationwide search) every couple weeks and I haven't yet seen a single one for sale.

$500 is a fair number for them to ask for a deposit. Do ask if they can beat your credit union rate though, you might be able to save a few bucks- and take your new car home sooner!

I've got a whole deal going with my credit union where my parents are buying my 4Runner off me through them too, so it's cleaner that way. I'm okay with $500 down if they ask, I figure they probably will.
